Lengua Machete
2025
Lengua Machete explores orality as one of the central tools—and weapons—of Black peoples in their struggles for liberation.
The word emerges not only as a means to name pain and injustice, but as a force capable of cutting, beheading, and dismantling imposed truths—without filter, decorum, or restraint.
Through the dance of Ogun, ritual aesthetics, and performative action, the body-word invokes, enunciates, and denounces the truths that demand release, activating the voice as a machete: an ancestral, political, and spiritual blade.
