Biography

Le’Onyx Da’Vida (Bogotá, Colombia) is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and researcher whose practice focuses on the intersection of art, pedagogy, and activism. Their work articulates performance, contemporary dance, audiovisual arts, and community-based creation, exploring the body as a living archive and territory of resistance against racism, coloniality, and gender-based violence.

They are a graduate of the Art Education program at Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas and is currently completing the Professional Dance and Choreographic Direction program at Corporación CENDA. Additionally, they have been a fellow of the Martin Luther King Leadership Program of the U.S. Embassy in alliance with the Centro Colombo Americano, and has participated in academic processes such as the First Seminar on Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Colombian studies with the Brazilian Embassy.

Le’Onyx, founder of the AfroNtando movement, has developed and directed processes that integrate artistic creation and community work, dialoguing with the experiences of Afro-descendant and gender dissident communities in Colombia. Their work has been recognized with grants and incentives such as Art against Intersectional Discrimination and Transformative Memories of Peace.
